Haruki Murakami seems to be quite popular in many countries. Have you ever read any of his books? He's the author of "Norwegian Wood", "The Elephant Vanishes", "Kafka on the Shore" as well as several other famous novels. I've heard a variety of comments from my students about his work, for example: "His books help me to understand contemporary Japan." "Eventually, nothing can be solved. That's the point I like." "Sad and erotic." I find it interesting that his novels inspire a wide range of opinions. Did you know his big fans are called "Harukists"? Harukist is a relatively new term which has become commonly used recently. When I heard it for the first time, I mistakenly thought it was something related to "Marxist".
